CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

All classes emphasize a steady even breath throughout class, start to finish.

Mixed Level: Appropriate for advance beginners through intermediate/advanced level students. General knowledge of traditional poses is helpful, modifications for poses are offered.

Intermediate: Appropriate for intermediate/advanced level students who know how to self modify.  Not appropriate for beginners.

Slow & Steady: Appropriate for all levels. We go slow, but not too slow 🙂 An increased degree of mindfulness and awareness on the breath and postures is encouraged.

6 Month Meditation Course

OCTOBER 2025 – MARCH 2026

For anyone wanting to start, tune up, or deepen their meditation practice. Over 6 months, learn and explore the three stages of meditation: concentration (dharna) contemplation (dhyana) and absorption (samadhi). In this course, you will learn the fundamentals of a meditation practice which can be applied across traditions. You will learn various techniques such as breath, mantra, visualization, guided, moving, and seated meditation in relationship with each of the three stages. Each class will have time for explanations, questions, and meditation practice. The course is cumulative, beginning with learning how to sit quietly and still for just a few minutes and culminating in a 30-minute group sit. Homework includes building a daily meditation practice and reading The Miracle of Mindfulness by Thich Nhat Hanh and Real Happiness by Sharon Salzburg.
Class meets Sundays, October 19, November 16, December 14, January 11, February 8, and March 15, 10:45 – 12 pm.

Fundamentals of Vinyasa

Saturday, January 28th, 2023

Vinyasa yoga is essentially about connecting movement with breath. In addition, Vinyasa classes typically include a series of movements known as a “Vinyasa.” In this workshop, we will break down what those movements are, how to modify them based on where you are in your practice, and how to build strength toward doing a full Vinyasa with confidence and safety. An authentic approach to the study of yoga with Barbara Verrochi, Kristin Leigh, Annie Piper, Maria Rubinate, Maria Cutrona, and Julianna Takacs.  The Shala culture reflects a commitment to the principles of sthira and sukha; steadiness and ease. The 200-hour teacher training aims to cultivate these qualities – physically, philosophically, and professionally.

Complete Training dates April – November, 2020.  Workshop weekend with Julianna September 12 – 13.
